Sports Premium

At Brook Acre Community Primary School, we pride ourselves on being a happy and healthy place to learn. We’ve developed an action plan to ensure Sports Premium funding is invested to maximise the long term impact of our PE provision for pupils and staff.

Our Sports’ funding plans (left) show how we invested the money in previous years and how we are currently investing the money. We have closely monitored the impact of these initiatives through assessment of children’s skills, staff and pupil feedback, uptake of clubs etc. and continue to do so.

Brook Acre School Sports

Physical education and school sport at Brook Acre aims:

  • To develop skilful use of the body, the ability to remember, repeat and refine actions and to perform them with increasing control, coordination and fluency (acquiring and developing).
  • To develop an increasing ability to select, link and apply skills, tactics and compositional ideas (selecting and applying).
  • To improve observational skills and the ability to describe and make simple judgements on their own and others work, and use their observations and judgements to improve performance (improving and evaluating).
  • To develop an understanding of the effects of exercise on the body, and an appreciation of the value of safe exercising (knowledge and understanding of fitness and health).
  • To develop the ability to work independently, and communicate with and respond positively towards others (working alone and with others).
  • To promote an understanding of safe practice, and develop a sense of responsibility towards their own and others’ safety and well being (applying safety principles).

How is sports funding at Brook Acre used?

We continue to place a high priority on our Physical Education provision and, as such, have invested in additional staffing/coaching and resources to further enhance the Physical Education curriculum and extra–curricular sports during after schools clubs.

2021 - 2022:

Provide high quality sports coaches in football, dance and gymnastics to develop skills and curriculum knowledge of these areas for all teachers, to enhance the quality of teaching.  Teachers work alongside coaches each week to deliver sessions in these areas throughout the school.  This forms part of teacher professional development.

Increase participation in out of school sport activities.  A small number of children at Brook Acre access clubs outside of school.  Through this funding, we are able to heavily subsidise sport based after school clubs to enable children to access high quality sports outside of school hours.

Purchase resources and equipment to enhance the quality of physical education within the curriculum.

Provide high quality CPD for teachers as a result of skills analysis.
