Pupil Premium

Pupil premium funding is received for children who have been eligible for free school meals at any time over the past 6 years.  This academic year, 59% of the children who attend Brook Acre are eligible for this funding.

Funding is also received for children who have become a child in care of the Local Authority.

The school Governors regularly review how the pupil premium funding is being spent, carefully scrutinising the impact on pupil outcomes to ensure all spending is purposeful and that every child receives high quality education, accelerating progress as a result.

At Brook Acre Primary School we have high aspirations and ambitions for all our children and we believe that no child should be left behind. We are determined that every child should be given the chance to realise their full potential, whatever their background or circumstance.  As a school we recognise the impact that factors of deprivation can have on a child's progress and attainment within school and are fully committed to overcome any barriers presented in order to accelerate progress of individuals and ensure that each child can fulfil their true potential and compete favourably with their peers as they move on to the next stage of their education.

 Pupil premium represents a significant proportion of our budget and this statement outlines how it is spent to maximum effect.

  • We seek to ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all of the pupils, overcoming any barriers to a child's progress and providing stepping stones to accelerate learning and reduce any gaps from lower starting points or from the negative impact of deprivation factors.
  • All staff are involved in the rigorous assessment of pupils and the analysis of data so that they are fully aware of strengths and weaknesses across the school and targeted action plans are set and regularly reviewed to target underperformance and accelerate progress.
  • We use research (such as the Sutton Trust Toolkit) to support us in determining the strategies that will be most effective and regularly review the impact of the support we offer, utilising external review and engaging with other schools to share best practice.
  • All pupil premium children benefit from the funding, not just those who are underperforming.
