Woodland trust Green Tree award

π³ Our Green Journey β Working Towards a Sustainable Future
We are delighted to celebrate achieving our Bronze and Silver Green Tree Schools Awards with the Woodland Trust. π³πΏ
These awards recognise the fantastic work taking place across our school to help children understand climate change, care for nature and take practical action to make our school and community more sustainable.
Our work also contributes to our School Climate Action Plan, which is organised around the four key areas identified by the Department for Education: decarbonisation and net zero, adaptation and resilience, biodiversity and nature, and climate education and green skills.
What we have done?π³
Our pupils are taking positive steps towards creating a more sustainable school and developing a deeper understanding of how we can protect our planet. Through our Science Enrichment Club and planned opportunities build into each classes learning, children have spent time learning in the forest, exploring the natural environment, observing wildlife and developing an appreciation of trees, woodland and biodiversity. Our work towards the Woodland Trust Green Tree Schools Awards, achieving both Bronze and Silver, has further strengthened our commitment to caring for nature.
Our pupils are also learning how everyday choices can help reduce our environmental impact. Year 6 pupils researched ways to reduce COβ emissions, creating awareness-raising messages that were shared with families during our coffee morning and are now displayed around school. Assemblies and activities have focused on recycling, reducing waste and caring for our environment, encouraging everyone to take responsibility for their actions. Our dedicated food waste monitors work daily to monitor food waste and ensure it is disposed of correctly, helping pupils become more mindful of the food they take and the waste they produce.
We are incredibly proud to have won the Warrington Wolves Ready, Set, Green Award in May, recognising the commitment of our pupils and staff to making a positive environmental difference. Through these initiatives, we are empowering our children to become responsible environmental citizens and helping to build a greener, more sustainable future for our whole school community. ππ±

Whatβs Next? π±
Our environmental journey continues! We are now working towards achieving the Gold Woodland Trust Green Tree Schools Award, building on the fantastic progress we have already made.
We aim to create even more opportunities for our pupils to learn outdoors, strengthening their connections with nature, developing relationships with others and supporting their mental health and wellbeing. By spending more time exploring our local environment, children will be able to discover the world around them, develop a deeper understanding of biodiversity and climate change, and learn how they can make a positive difference.
Through hands-on experiences, outdoor learning and continued environmental projects, we hope to inspire our pupils to become confident, caring and responsible environmental citizens.
Together, we will continue to grow, explore and make a difference β working towards a greener future for everyone! π³π
