Welcome to Year 3

A huge welcome from Mrs O’Brien our class teacher, Mrs Maycock our teaching assistant and Mr Siddell who also teaches in our class.

In Year 3 we enjoy learning and having lots of fun!  We have lots of exciting trips, visits and events planned throughout the year.

Our first learning journey is ‘S.B.I. Agents’. During this history based learning journey, we will become history detectives using clues to find out about Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age Britain.

Our first trip is coming up and we will soon be visiting Poole’s Cavern to explore how caves have been used over the years and learn more about rock formations.

We have started our swimming lessons and have already shown courage and determination in the pool.  We will be swimming throughout the whole of Autumn Term.

Homework and Reading

Year 3 homework is sent home every Friday and parents are invited to engage with the children's learning at home to prepare children for the following week in school. Homework is collected in and marked on a Thursday in order for children to sign up for Friday treat time.

Children are also expected to read at least 3 times a week at home and we enjoy reading parents comments about their children's reading at home.

PE Kits

Children need to have a red t-shirt and black shorts for indoor P.E. like gymnastics. They also need to have an outdoor kit which includes warmer kit like a track suit or jumper.  Children need to have a change of shoes for P.E. either black pumps or trainers.
